Cumin Lamb Skewers
Cumin Lamb Skewers, also known as "Xinjiang lamb skewers" are a popular dish from the Xinjiang region of China. They are made by marinating chunks of lamb meat in a mixture of cumin powder, chili flakes, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, and sugar, before grilling them on skewers.
- 1 lb lamb leg or shoulder, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp cumin powder
- 2 tbsp chili flakes
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine garlic, ginger, cumin powder, chili flakes, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Add the lamb cubes to the bowl and toss to coat the lamb evenly with the marinade.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto the skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.
- Grill the skewers for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking.
- Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
